About Us

North Somerset Railway Company

The North Somerset Railway Company was formed by a group of enthusiasts in 1987, after the railways' decline from use by Marcroft's Wagonworks, Radstock. We were previously known as The Somerset and Avon Railway Company. The name was changed by general opinion on the advent of Avon ceasing to be a recognised county. At the same time the Trust broke away and became its own entity. The aims of the Railway Company are to link a route between Radstock and Frome for not only heritage, but also a possible passenger link, and freight.
